Is a fishing license required?

Yes a Basic Fishing and Saltwater License are required. You can apply for one at https://louisianaoutdoors.com/licenses-and-permits

What items will be provided?

• Surf fishing Gear: rod, reel, fishing line

• Tackle: weights, hooks, bait, sinkers, leaders, Sand Spikes

• Accessories: Fishing pliers, scissors, filet knife, Measuring tape

• Bait

What items should I bring with me?

board shorts, sunglasses, backpack, fishing mask, sunscreen, Towel, Jacket, Long sleeved shirt, Hat, water shoes or waders

Do you keep the fish that are caught?

All Red Drum, Black Drum and Sharks are released  the fight another day. All other species my be kept in accordance with LA Fish and Game regulations.

What beach will I be fishing on?

Mae's beach, Little Florida beach, Holly beach, Cameron beach or Rutherford beach. Your guide will select the best location for your trip based on weather, tide, seasonal beach/water conditions, bait movement and drum migration patterns. The exact location of your trip along with directions will be given to you a few days before you arrive.

When is the best time of year to catch big Red Drum?

Red drum are present in coastal LA waters year around but our favorite time to catch them is from Oct-Nov and March-April. The water temperature drops during these months and most of the trash fish and bait fish move away from shore. This means the hungry Red drum has less bait to choose from and less competition from other fish.
